Visiting Authors!

Back in December we had the pleasure of meeting a famous author and illustrator! We met sisters Susan Stevens Crummel and Janet Stevens. You may have read these books:

They were amazing and so funny! They taught us so much about being authors and illustrators of our own stories. We even learned how they got ideas for the books they've written and illustrated. It was sure great to meet these two silly sisters and read a lot of their books!

So what else is new with us? We have been very busy after celebrating this:

We had a great holiday party! We played "pass the parcel", decorated a cookie, and our teachers! It you look real close in these pictures you will see that our classroom looks a little empty. These pictures were taken on our last day at the ASD "Jumeirah" campus. After Winter Holiday we moved into our brand new school and classroom. Our new school is sooo big and beautiful. Mrs. Tebo promises to post pictures real soon of our new school. We will also tell you a little more about the country we live in...the UAE!

SPIDER PARTY!

Hi Dubai Friends!  

We have been very busy learning many new things!  Last month we learned about all kinds of spiders, so we decided to have a SPIDER PARTY!!

We made spider cupcakes, spider hats, there were spiders on the wall, and we got spider rings!!

We also had a "Decorate your own cupcake" sale for the whole school to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House. 

This month's theme was a turkey! Next month we are going to do reindeer!!

Right now, we are learning about what animals do in fall to get ready for winter and all about turkeys!!  We are excited for Thanksgiving!  We have three days off!!

We hope you are having fun with Mrs. Tebo!!!  Can't wait to hear what you are learning about!!

Marhaba or Hello!It is so great to be your first grade buddies this year! We were so excited to read our first blog post from you. We are in Mrs. Tebo's first grade class at the American School of Dubai. We have 16 students in our class and we are from all over the world! Our school has grades K1 (4 and 5 year olds) through grade 12! Right now it is still very hot here, sometimes over 100 degrees, but we still manage to play outside for recess. We also go to school Sunday through Thursday. This means our weekend is Friday and Saturday! Pretty soon we will be packing up and moving to our new school which is just about finished. The middle school and high school kids are already there. We are so happy to get to know all about Oneonta, New York and teach you about our lives in Dubai this year!

Hello From Oneonta, New York!!

We are so excited to be pen pals with our friends in Dubai!

We go to school at Center Street Elementary in Oneonta, New York.  We started school on September 8, 2010.  There are 22 kids in our class.  We have 11 boys and 11 girls.  Our teacher is Mrs. Andrew.  Mrs. Andrew makes us do lots of work.  Center Street has classes from Kindergarten to 6^th Grade.  We are the only First Grade class in our school.  Center Street was built in 1895 and had its first school year in 1897.  We just celebrated our 113^th Birthday!!! 

We look forward to telling you more about our class, our school, and where we live!!
